Cairo Sightseeing – With plenty to do you’ll want to know the most popular attractions so you too can make sure that you see them. We’ve listed a number out below and hope that you can get to see each and every one of them but remember there are many more to take your breath away. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes so you can do a lot of walking and not get to tired. If you’re worried about that take one of the tours that are offered in Cairo. A nice bus tour can make it all the more comfortable for you.

When you’re in Cairo you’ll definitely want to see the Pyramid Sound and Light Show. This is an awesome sight you won’t want to miss. Also make sure to see the Sphinx and the Pyramid of Cheops to assure you see the real essence of Cairo.

Well we all know the Sphinx but to see it in reality is a stunning experience. It is open from 8.30 am until around 4.30 pm. It was the Greeks who named this magnificent carving The Sphinx – with the head of a woman and the body of a lion. Either join a tour taking in the Pyramids aswell or go by taxi.

You should visit this as it has the greatest show of Egyptian findings and will tell you much about the history and background of Egypt and the Nile Delta. With special exhibitions of mummies it also includes the mummy’s of some Pharaohs.

The Citadel

The Citadel is the heart of Islamic Cairo, a breathtaking castle it was built in the 12th Century. It can be visited from about 8am to 5pm most days. Further information is available from +20 2 512 9619. It is located about 13 kms from Cairo.

Pyramid Sound and Light Show

Make sure to see this awesome show when you are in Egypt. The Pyramid Sound and Light Show should be a highlight of your trip. Another highlight of your trip will be the Pyramid of Cheops and you can go inside and look around it – we know you’ll visit the Pyramids but do try and take in the Sound and Light show as well. They Pyramids are said to be made from over two million huge blocks of stone with each one weighing tons – doesn’t that make you think. You can visit the Kings and Queens chamber during your trip.

The Cairo Tower
The Cairo Tower is right in the centre of the city and it will allow you get wonderful panoramic views of Cairo. Try the restaurant which revolves around to ensure you can enjoy the views from every angle. You can visit it from 9am until midnight most days.

An-Nasir Mohammed Mosque
The An-Nasir Mohammed Mosque is one of the most famous in Cairo and the amazing interior is a sight to behold. The architecture of the building is amazing and has survived since the 1300’s. It is open from the hours of 9 am. Remember to observe the necessary dress code for a visit – your hotel will put you right on this.

The Church of St. Barbara (Sitt Barbara) is another great place to visit. You do need to dress conservatively to see this.

Khan el-Khalili Bazaar

The Khan el-Khalili Bazaar is a great market you’ll want to see when you’re in Cairo and do your haggling and bargaining while you are getting wonderful souvenirs of your trip. This is a bustling area and you must make sure not to get separated from your companions (make an arrangement to meet up in case you do!).
